SIDING FOR EVERY KIND OF BUILDING.
James Hardie fibre cement has its own page. This one covers the rest of the lineup Double D installs — LP SmartSide, vinyl, KWP and metal — what each is best for, and how to choose between them.
SIDING & CLADDING
FOUR SYSTEMS. DIFFERENT STRENGTHS.
Every material below is one we install regularly. The right choice depends on the building, the look you want and how much upkeep you're willing to do.
THE MATERIALS
LP SMARTSIDE
VINYL
Engineered wood siding with the look and feel of real wood, treated for resistance to moisture and fungal decay. Available in lap, panel, shake and trim profiles.
Best for: the wood look, without solid-wood upkeep.
The practical, low-maintenance standard. Vinyl comes in horizontal, vertical and board & batten profiles and a wide colour range — and it never needs painting.
Best for: budget-conscious re-sides, rentals and multi-unit work.
KWP
METAL — LUX / MAC / ACM
Canadian-made engineered wood siding with a factory-applied finish and deep wood-grain colours. All the character of wood, finished in the plant instead of on a ladder.
Best for: a rich wood look with a factory finish.
Architectural metal siding and panels from LUX and MAC — clean modern lines, long lengths, solid and woodgrain finishes — plus ACM panels for commercial facades.
Best for: modern designs, feature walls and commercial work.

FOUR QUESTIONS THAT NARROW IT DOWN.
HOW TO CHOOSE
01 THE LOOK
02 THE UPKEEP
Wood grain, smooth and modern, or traditional lap? Start with the finish you want to see every day — every material has a look it does best.
Some sidings ask for almost nothing; others need paint and caulking kept up over the years. Be honest about how much maintenance you'll actually do.
03 THE EXPOSURE
04 THE BUDGET
Hail and wind hit some walls harder than others, and south walls take the sun. Tougher materials earn their keep on the exposed sides of a building.
Materials sit at different price points. We'll price the real options for your building so you can compare installed cost, not guesses.
